Emergency workers helped by teams of volunteers are searching the rubble of collapsed buildings in central Mexico for survivors of a powerful earthquake. Nearly 250 people are confirmed dead. The victims include at least 20 children whose school in Mexico City was brought down by the quake.

The leaders of Britain, France and Italy are meeting the biggest technology companies on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
