A lawsuit brought by Ukraine against Russia for allegedly violating U.N conventions by financing separatist rebels in eastern Ukraine will be heard by the U.N's top court. Kiev also accused Moscow of discriminating against Tatar's unoccupied Crimea. There has been no immediate reaction from Moscow.

A Spanish court has authorized the extradition to United Nations of a former Venezuelan general, who headed the counterintelligence under president Maduro and his predecessor Hugo Chávez. Hugo Carvajal was arrested in April at the request of Washington on drug trafficking charges.

A Brazilian judge has ordered the release of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Supporters have been gathering outside the prison in the city of Curitiba where he has been held for the last year on the corruption charges.

Hundreds of far-right protesters in Georgia have clashed with police in the capital Tbilisi, as they tried to prevent screaming of an Oscar nominated film about gay love. The Swedish-Georgian film "And Then We Danced" has angered ultranationalist groups and the Georgian orthodox church.

Reports from northeastern Syria say a Kurdish man protesting Kurdish troop patrolling in the area has died after being run over by one of the Kurdish armed vehicles. Kurdish villages have been throwing rocks at both Turkish and Russian forces that started patrolling the region last week.

Schools and colleges in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh have been closed ahead of a supreme court ruling on a disputed religious site in Ayodhya. An ancient Mosque there was raised in 1992 by Hindu Zalophus.

The United Nations is warning that a massive infestation of Locust in Ethiopia could spread to neighboring countries, such as Kenya, Eritrea and Sudan. The locust are devouring almost two million tons of vegetation a day over areas about 350 square kilometers.

Some 30 refugees and asylum seekers in Italy have been cast as extras in the production of Mozart's "Idomeneo" in Roma's opera. It tells the story of a Crete King washed out on the shore of his native island after a storm.
