Security is one of the issues Secretary Pompeo is expected to discuss with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in a country that's a key US partner in the fight against terrorism across the horn of Africa, particularly in tackling the trace of Addis Ababa. Also on the agenda will be the $5 billion Renaissance Dam. It's already under construction in Western Ethiopia and causing conflict with another US ally, Egypt.

A Dutch court has upheld an appeal by shareholders of the bankrupt Russian oil company Yukos in a long-awaited ruling, boosting their fight in a $50 billion case for compensation. The appeals court in the Hague decided that a previous ruling in favor of the Russian federation was incorrect. The court said the original $50 billion compensation awarded was in force again.

It's facing a surge in lawsuits over its handling of sexual abuse allegations. The organization has records dating back over a century. Lawyers argue those records hit the abuse problem and left scouts at risk. One victim's group has found nearly 2000 complainants ranging in age from 8 to 93. A scout spokesman said bankruptcy protection meant victims could be compensated. He apologized sincerely to anyone who was harmed.

An explosion on a road in southwest Colombia is reported to have killed at least seven people and wounded several others. It's not clear what caused the blast on the pan-American highway in the Cauca district, one of the country's most violent regions. The authorities now say the incident was not a deliberate attack, despite initially blaming it on a car bomb. Dissident rebels and drugs gangs have clashed with both the military and indigenous groups in the area.
