International Islamic University: an international seat of Islamic learning in Pakistan to provide every opportunity for an all round and harmonious development of individuals and society and reconstruction of human thought in all its forms on the foundation of Islam.


assault [uncountable and countable]: a military attack to take control of a place controlled by the enemy


offensive [countable]: a planned military attack involving large forces over a long period


insurgent [countable usually plural]: formal, one of a group of people fighting against the government of their own country, or against authority


hit back [phrasal verb]: to attack or criticize a person or group that has attacked or criticized you


seat of learning: formal, a university, college etc


struck--the past tense of strike [intransitive]: to attack someone, especially suddenly


simultaneous: things that are simultaneous happen at exactly the same time


faculty [countable]: a department or group of related departments within a university


punch [transitive]: to make a hole in something, using a metal tool or other sharp object:


Sharia law: refers to the legal framework within which the public and private aspects of life are regulated for those living in a legal system based on Islamic principles of jurisprudence and for Muslims living outside the domain, and deals with many aspects of day-to-day life, including politics, economics, banking, business, contracts, family, sexuality, hygiene, and social issues.


corridor [countable]: a long narrow passage on a train or between rooms in a building, with doors leading off it


cafeteria [countable]: a restaurant, often in a factory, college etc, where you choose from foods that have already been cooked and carry your own food to a table


chant [countable]: words or phrases that are repeated again and again by a group of people


trigger [transitive]: to make something happen very quickly, especially a series of events


send-off [countable]: informal, a party or other occasion when people meet to say goodbye to someone who is leaving:

grip [transitive]: to have a strong effect on someone or something


nerve [uncountable]: courage and confidence in a dangerous, difficult, or frightening situation


shut down [phrasal verb]: if a company, factory, large machine etc shuts down or is shut down, it stops operating, either permanently or for a short time


precaution [countable usually plural]: something you do in order to prevent something dangerous or unpleasant from happening


in the wake of something: if something, especially something bad, happens in the wake of an event, it happens afterwards and usually as a result of it
