英国石油公司将努力控制漏油
Pressing ahead after another setback, British energy giant BP said it hopes to soon complete its latest effort to contain the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. BP Chief Operating Officer Doug Suttles met with reporters in Robert, Louisiana.
We are in the process of running the riser insertion tube, this is the method to contain the flow. This doesn't stop the flow, but it contains the flow. We hope to have that tool inserted by sometime late tonight.
With crude oil gushing unchecked from an oil well deep on the floor of the Gulf, US Interior Secretary Ken Salazar paid a visit to an oiled bird rescue station in Venice, Louisiana and later addressed reporters.
Well, I think in the middle of this kind of crisis, what's the most important is for us to be calm and confident, knowing that we have an incident, that is an emergency incident that we are doing everything humanly possible to control and secondly that the lessons from this incident to learn, so this kind of incident doesn’t ever happen again.
Earlier in the day the Obama Administration released a letter it sent to BP, saying that the company would be responsible for all costs associated with the oil spill even if the clean-up exceeds the 75-billion-dollar liability cap, set forth by US law.
