The recruitment process for civil servants has begun. This year, more than 20 thousand job positions from 140 government bureaus across the country will be available, the highest number in recent years. It has been predicted that one out every 90 people will succeed in getting their civil servant job.

Cai Jinlong is a teacher working for an education service company which provides courses on preparation for the civil service recruitment exam.

"The economic development of the society needs more people to work for the public service area, and that's why more positions are available right now. It is also widely accepted that recruiting talent through such examinations is a good idea."

Among all the positions, nearly 75% don't require candidates to have any working experience. Half of them only ask for undergraduate degrees. This is good news for graduates this year. But the positions they can choose are mostly grass-root ones. 80 percent of the positions in the central government want people who have at least two years of work experience.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Administration of Taxation are recruiting the highest number of people. But at the same time, some entities are just looking for one employee, which could lead to fierce competition.

"I would suggest that those who want to apply these positions wait until the final days to register. By then, the number of people who have already signed up can be clearly seen, and you can avoid fierce competition. At the same time, more information will come out to help you locate the position you want."

Due to the surging number of jobs available this year, the number of people joining the pre-exam courses has seen a sharp increase. President Yuan Dong is from Huatu School, an education company focusing on providing services for students who want to take these exams.

"We did a survey and found that students have grown over threefold, coming to take our classes."

The civil servant pre-exam training class market has been booming in recent years, as working for the government is still considered a good career choice. Schools offering such pre-exam training classes have been racking their brains to compete for more students, and many have made a mint.

This year, one-on-one training that permits flexible schedules have turned out to be more popular, but of course, the fees are high. Students are charged one thousand and two hundred yuan per hour, compared to one thousand yuan per hour last year.

As the Chinese economy slows down, the job seekers consider stability more important. The civil service pre-exam training class market is expected to keep growing.
