The Zhicheng Classic Bookstore, which is found on Taobao's T-mall site, sold around 15-hundred volumes of Mo Yan's latest novel "Frog" in just 6-hours after it was announced he won the Nobel Prize for Literature.

The Beijing Genuine & Profound Culture Development Company is the only authorized publisher of Mo Yan's all books on the mainland.

Vice-manager Shi Xiang says the company is producing a new collection of Mo Yan's 20 works, including 4 books that have never been published before.

Nobel Influence Expected to Prosper Beyond Industries

"As it's a complete collection of 20 books, so even a paperback edition could be priced at, let's see, around 800 yuan. Such a huge new collection, plus a growing craze for Mo Yan's works. In addition to that, as the newest, the most completed, and the latest revised edition, the collection is expected to have large sales volumes."

Meanwhile, more movies based on Mo Yan's novels might also be in the works.

Shi Xiang says more than 20 companies have contacted them to discuss the potential adaptation of Mo's works into films.

The new run on Mo Yan's works is welcome news for the publishing industry in China which has been suffering in recent years.

As such, Shi Xiang says they're hoping Mo Yan's new-found popularity will turn around the fortunes for the Chinese publishing world. In fact, stock prices of cultural and media industries rose sharply over the past few days in China.

"Those listed companies are not directly connected with Mo Yan, as they don't have the copyright to his works. Still, many investors believe Mo's award will bring the publishing industry more positive energy. It's like the butterfly effect, and will definitely encourage more people to get involved in literature, and attract more people toward reading."

What's more, Mike Bastin, a researcher at Nottingham University's School of Contemporary Chinese Studies, is describing Mo Yan as "a Chinese business game-changer".

"Which haven't been discussed or given sufficient attention, it has huge implications I think for Chinese business and Chinese economy, and these implications should lead to greater innovation, greater creativity, I think more self-confidence, more self-belief in Chinese companies and Chinese managers in their ability to innovate."

Mo Yan's new book "Our Jing Ke" is due to hit store shelves in about a week.
