美国海军司令部枪击案震动世界

2013-10-04来源:Sky news

At the USnavy memorial, the victims of the country’s latest mass shootings are honored, all of them civilians from their 40s to their 70s. All of them killed as theystarted their work week. Their stories are beginning to emerge, the country isonce again asking, how this could have happened?

For all that we’relearning about Aaron Alexis, one question hasn’t been answered, what motivatedhim to embark on this rampage, a Buddhist who showed flashes of anger and wasarrested for firearms offenses was receiving treatment for paranoia, hearingvoices in his head.

None of it was enoughto rescind the security pass that allowed him to enter the navy yard yesterdaywith an assault rifle, a shotgun and a handgun. The emergency calls revealedthe chaos and carnage in a packed office building and there are now numerousinvestigations.

We had a report onthe 4th floor, a male with a shotgun, multiple shots fired, multiple peopledown. We’re still waiting for the ok that the scene has been secured. We havean active shooter on the 4th floor. I’ll get you an update on the buildinglocation with several victims down.

There are storiesof survival too. Sam Ago barricaded himself into his office when the shootingbegan.

We got quiet and weall laid on the floor. And then after a few minutes, there were gunshots stilland running down the hallway, just outside of our room. We actually took a verylarge, I’ll say, it’s about 17-foot conference table. The six of us were inthere and moved it against the door from the inside and it was wedged in to apodium.

Most troubling ofall is the fact that Alexis was able to secure work as a civilian contractorinside the Navy Yards with a military record that showed repeated instances ofdisorderly conduct, insubordination, even nights in civilian jails. There are alot of Americans wondering how that could have been allowed to happen.

They are nowsearching for clues in Alexis’s past, police have visited his family home inNew York, and in the Taxis community where he worked at this Thai restaurant, afriend offered a now chilling memory.

He played a lot ofthe online games where they were shooting all the time. And we would joke withhim about that sometimes, because we are all like, well, you know, his computerscreen was like a life live, it was big, and it was like wow, you know, it’slike you’re shooting people alive.

In Washington, thenation’s capital is in mourning, all of those who were injured are expected tosurvive, but this is still the worst shooting in a military installation sincethe fort hood massacre 4 years ago and leaves America once again counting thecost of gun crime.
