The biggest attraction of the festival is the sea of lanterns in every conceivable shape, such as goldfish, dragons and tigers. Popular folk legends like The Cowherd and the Weaving Maid and 24 Stories of Filial Piety can also be seen in lantern forms, adding much fun to the festival.
元宵节的亮点是样式各异的花灯,例如金鱼灯、龙灯和老虎灯。像《牛郎织女》、《二十四孝》这样的流行民间传说也会出现在花灯上,为节日平添很多趣味。
Solving Lantern Riddles

Solving lantern riddles is a popular activity which emerged during the Song Dynasty (960-1279). During the Lantern Festival, people write riddles on pieces of paper and post them on lanterns. If visitors can give the right answers to the riddles, they will get a small gift.

Dragon lantern dance, which can be traced back to time immemorial, originates from traditional folk dance. The Chinese worship the dragon and regard the legendary creature as a symbol of good luck. Performing a dragon lantern dance during the Lantern Festival is popular in many places.

Watching Fireworks
看烟花
At night, in addition to magnificent lighted lanterns, fireworks form a grand scene. Most families save some fireworks from the Spring Festival and set them off during the Lantern Festival. Some local governments will even organize a fireworks party.
在晚上,除了壮丽的花灯,烟花也会构成一道亮丽的风景。大多数家庭会在春节省下一些烟花用于元宵节燃放。一些地方政府甚至会组织烟花宴会。
