[00:14.84]The Frogs and the Well
[00:17.69]Two Frogs lived together in a wetland.
[00:21.45]But one hot summer the land dried up,
[00:25.06]and they left it to look for anther place
[00:27.31]to live in.
[00:28.89]Frogs like wet places.
[00:31.46]They went from one place to another
[00:33.95]until they came to a deep well.
[00:37.15]One of them looked down into it,
[00:39.77]and said to the other,"
[00:41.88]This seems to be a nice cool place.
[00:45.08]Let us jump in and stay here."
[00:47.86]But the other one, who was wiser, replied,
[00:51.55]"Not so fast, my friend.
[00:54.17]When this well dried up like the wetland,
[00:57.38]how should we get out again?
[00:59.60]Look before you leap."
[01:01.72]The Milkmaid and Her Pot
[01:04.84]One day a little milkmaid was going to the
[01:07.85]market with a pot of milk on her shoulder.
[01:11.19]While she was walking along the road
[01:14.01]she began to think about
[01:15.46]what she would do with the money
[01:17.36]after she sold the milk.
[01:19.82]"I'll buy some hens from Farmer Brown," she
[01:22.95]said to herself,
[01:25.14]"they will lay eggs each morning
[01:27.81]so that I will sell them in the market.
[01:30.71]After I get the money from these eggs I'll
[01:33.60]buy myself a new dress and a beautiful hat.
[01:37.84]Then, when I go to the market again.
[01:40.61]all the people will admire my new dress!
[01:44.02]I'll just throw away my old hat
[01:46.87]and my old dress."
[01:49.03]As she spoke she touched her old hat.
[01:52.78]The milk pot fell off her shoulder,
[01:55.69]and the pot fell to the ground and broke.
[01:59.19]So she had to go home and tell her mother
[02:01.85]what had happened.
[02:04.18]"Ah, my child," said the mother,
[02:06.87]"Do not count your chickens before they hatch."
[02:10.84]The Lion and the Mouse
[02:13.41]Once when a lion was sleeping a little mouse
[02:16.59]began running up and down upon him.
[02:20.12]Soon the lion woke up.
[02:22.41]He opened his big paws and caught the mouse.
[02:26.34]"Pardon me, my King," cried the little mouse,
[02:30.34]"Forgive me this time. I will never forget it.
[02:33.98]You may need my help in the future."
[02:37.12]The lion laughed at the idea,
[02:39.60]but he opened his paw and let him go.
[02:42.90]One day, the lion was caught in a trap.
[02:46.54]The hunters tied him to a tree
[02:48.59]and wanted to carry him alive to the King.
[02:51.89]Just then the little mouse happened to pass by.
[02:55.09]As soon as he saw the lion he went to save him.
[02:59.40]"Oh, my King. Do you still remember me?"
[03:02.93]asked the little mouse.
[03:04.72]"Of course, I do. Now I'm going to die.
[03:08.60]Nobody can help me," said the lion sadly.
[03:12.48]"Oh,let me see if I can do something,"
[03:15.37]said the mouse.
[03:16.89]The lion was puzzled.
[03:18.77]Soon the little mouse broke the ropes.
[03:22.15]"Wasn't I right?" asked the little mouse,
[03:25.52]"Little friends may prove great friends."
