President Bush marched Memorial Day by laying a wreath at the tomb of the unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery today. It's the sixth time the president has taken part in the annual tradition.
A powerful car bomb went off in a busy business district in Baghdad today, killing at least 21 Iraqi civilians, wounding 66. The blast damaged a nearby Sunni mosque, prompting Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to condemn terrorists who target Iraqi religious symbols. But police believe the bombers were actually targeting civilians on the street and not the mosque.
Fierce storms, flush floods, and landslides are taking their toll in parts of Europe and Turkey. About two dozen people have been killed. Nine people died in eastern Turkey including six who died in severe flooding near the Iranian border where melting snows are filling rivers to overflowing.
Turkey's situation is similar to problems people on the plain states are facing right now. Parts of north Texas are expected to remain under a flood watch until sometime this afternoon. The area has been dealing with heavy rain and flooding since last week. Seven people have died in Texas as a result.
Duke University is in the NCAA Men's Lacrosse finals. A little more than a year after its season was cancelled following false rape charges against some of its players. Duke faces Johns Hopkins in today's championship game. Duke advanced to today's match by beating previously undefeated Cornell on Saturday.
The Stanley Cup finals get underway tonight in Anaheim, California. The Ducks are back in the Stanley Cup finals for the first time since losing to the New Jersey Doubles in 2003. They'll face off against the Ottawa Senators. The Senators are back in the Stanley Cup finals for the first time since 1927.
