Good afternoon from the cnn center in Atlanta. I’m Cory Kessler. A Disciplinal Committee hands down its judgment on the prosecutor in the Duke lacrosse rape case and that tops our look at what’s happening Now In The News.
The committee decided Mike Nifone broke rules of professional conduct including with holding information and DNA test results from the accused player’s defence attorneys as well as lying to the court and baring investigators. The British Aid Agency Oxfam is pulling out of the biggest refugee camp in Sudan’s Dalfore region. The agency officials say that the withdraw is permanent. A potentially dangerous computer glitch is now mostly fixed aboard the International Space Station. And NASA has cleared the shuttle of Atlanta for landing next week after an astronaut stable the section of the shuttle’s thermal heat blanket back in place during the space-walk yesterday.
Congress is trying to bring your passport nightmares to an end. At least for the next 2 years, The House has voted overwhelmingly to delay the second phase of new passport requirements until June of 2009. The Senate hasn’t voted yet. If the bill is approved, it would mean you could continue to travel to Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean by land or sea without a passport. You may recall the first phase of new rules requiring passport for air travel triggered an avalanche of passport applications. That forces the government to relax requirement for the summer travel season.
