I'm Melissa Long here at the cnn center in Atlanta with a look at what's happening NOW IN THE NEWS.

President Bush is getting to know a new British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown just wrapping up meetings at Camp David Presidential Retreat today. It’s his first US visit since succeeding Tony Blair last month. The two leaders are covering a broad range of issues, Iraq, Iran, trade and more. They pledged to maintain the strong bonds between the US and the UK, and continue to cooperate in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

A new report says unique security measures at one of the world's busiest airports are making passengers later instead of safer. The International Air Transport Association says the antiterrorism measures at London's Heathrow Airport, quote, “inconvenience passengers with no improvement in security".

The US has announced arms deals with Egypt and Israel. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says it’s a way to strengthen the defensive capabilities of US partners in the region. Another unofficial arms deal may prove more controversial. The US is working on a 20-billion-dollar, 10-year deal with Saudi Arabia and other moderate Arab states.

A widely used drug could soon be pulled from your pharmacy over worries it could raise heart attack risks. A federal scientist told a Food and Drug Administration advisory panel today. There is no justifiable reason to keep the diabetes drug Avandia on the market. He says the increased risk of heart attacks plus the lack of unique benefits over other medications makes Avandia too dangerous. The maker of that drug, GlaxoSmithKline, insists it’s just as safe as other diabetes drugs. The panel could recommend the FDA restrict Avandia’s use or remove it entirely from the market.

Atlanta quarterback Michael Vick’s defense has a new challenge. One of Vick’s co-defendants has pleaded guilty to federal dog fighting charges. Tony Taylor, Hampton, Virginia, was in court this morning in Richmond to enter pleas to two conspiracy charges. The indictment that’s named Vick, Taylor and two others alleges that Taylor found the property that Vick bought and used it as a site for a dog fighting enterprise. Vick and the 2 other co-defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges last week.
