Good afternoon to you. Hope you are enjoying your Saturday; I'm Cory Kessler at cnn.com news room in Atlanta. Here's a look at what's happening NOW IN THE NEWS.

There is no letup in the frantic search for 6 trapped coal miners in Utah. They've been underground now since Monday. Rescue crews are using a video camera lowered down a newly drilled hole to look for any sign of life. Some of the miners' family members say as time goes by, they are starting to lose hope.

Funerals are being held today for 3 Newark shooting victims. The college aged friends were gunned down last weekend execution-style. Newark's mayor pounded his fist at one funeral today and shouted "enough is enough". Police have three suspects in custody and two are just 15 years old. Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for a fourth suspect. They are calling him a principal player in the shootings.

In a bid for warmer relations, President Bush is meeting today with new French President Nicolas Sarkozy at the Bush family home in Kennebunkport, Maine. Before Mr. Sarkozy's election, Iraq was among the issues strained the relationship between Washington and Paris.

Witnesses have told police they saw a suspicious-looking man in a building where the Virginia Tech campus massacre took place two days before the attack. And some doors were changed shut that day in Norris Hall just like they were during the shooting. Seung-Hui Cho Killed 30 people there but in a briefing held yesterday to update the public on the investigation. Police say they don't know if the man witnesses saw was Cho.

Two shuttle astronauts are walking in space today. They are helping to install a truss on the International Space Station's backbone. Endeavor delivered the two-ton unit. They will act as a spacer between the existing solar array and another one to be installed next year. Tomorrow astronauts are using the shuttle's robotic arm and cameras to inspect tile damage on the underbelly of the shuttle's heat shield. Right now NASA doesn't know if it's deep enough to warrant a repair mission.

And there you have it. You are now up-to-date. That is the news this hour. For more on what's happening around the world, tune in to cnn television or log on to cnn.com. And as usual, don't forget you can get updates through your wireless phone anytime, day or night. I'm Cory Kessler. Thanks for watching.
