Attorney General Alberto Gonzales says he is leaving his job. Gonzales' announcement ends his controversial tenure as the head of the Justice Department. For months, Democrats and some Republicans in Congress have been calling for Gonzales to resign over his role in the Bush Administration's domestic spying program and the firing of the US attorneys. President Bush says he reluctantly accepted Gonzales' resignation. Gonzales will stay in his job until September 17th. Meanwhile Solicitor General Paul Clement will service acting Attorney General until a replacement can be confirmed.

Michael Vick is apologizing to the NFL, the Atlanta Falcons and his fans for what he calls "using bad judgments and making bad decisions." He told briefly after formerly pleading guilty to a federal dogfighting conspiracy charge. In a brief hearing in Richmond, Virginia this morning, Vick confirmed the plea agreement filed Friday. While admitting to the conspiracy charge, he denied placing any bets on dogfights or receiving any winnings. The judge has set sentencing for December 10th. The NFL suspended Vick without pay indefinitely after the plea agreement was filed. If he is found to have gambled, he could face a lifetime ban from this board.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has hit back at growing calls from abroad for his resignation. Mr. al-Maliki told reporters in Baghdad that Democratic Senators Hillary Clinton and Carl Levin should (quote) "come to their senses" after saying he should resign.

The son of pro-wrestler Hulk Hogan has been released from a Florida hospital. Rescuers pulled him out of that mangled car, you are looking at, last night. Police in Clearwater say 17-year-old Nick Bollea was driving the Toyota Supra at a high speed when he lost control and hit a raised median. Bollea you may know is featured with his family in the reality series "Hogan Knows Best". His 22-year-old passenger is still in critical condition. Police do not think alcohol was involved. The crash is still being investigated.
