Good morning on this Tuesday, I'm Reggie Aqui at the cnn center in Atlanta and here's a look at what's happening NOW IN THE NEWS.
The search for 3 people still missing in a plane crash resumes today in Washington State. Overnight the wreckage of a plane carrying 9 skydivers and a pilot was found in the rugged mountains of Washington State near Mount Rainier. Seven bodies were found. The plane disappeared Sunday night on the way from Boise, Idaho to Shelton, Washington.
Britain is cutting its Iraq force in half and could pull all of its troops out by the end of next year. British forces will number 2500 by next spring. Now a decision on a final pullout will be made then. There are 46, 000 British troops in Iraq during invasion in March of 2003.
Iraq wants 136 million dollars in damages from private security firm Blackwater USA. That breaks down an 8 million for each family of the 17 people Iraq says Blackwater security guards killed September 16th in Baghdad. Iraq also wants the US government to stop doing business with Blackwater.
Four men including a student from the Universtiy of Memphis are now charged in the shooting death of one of that university's football players. His name is Taylor Bradford. Police say Bradford was a target of a botched robbery after winning several thousand dollars at a casino the night before he was killed. They also say there was bad blood between Bradford and the student suspect.
And speaking of campuses, Virginia Tech is testing a new warning system this week. It uses cellphone text messages, voice mail, email and instant messages to alert students and faculty if there is a threat. Many other colleges have been using similar systems for weeks. It's been nearly 6 months now since Virginia Tech student Seung Hui Cho shot and killed 32 people on campus before taking his own life.
First television, now music. TIVO is teaming up with the Rhapsody. It has offered about 4 million songs that can be played on subscribers' home entertainment systems and you can do it at any time. Why are they doing this? Well, TIVO is trying to stay ahead of cable companies which you may know already offer music.
