Hi everyone, I'm Asieh Namdar at the cnn. com newsroom in Atlanta. Here's a quick look at what's happening NOW IN THE NEWS.

We begin with the latest in arson investigation in southern California. Orange County officials are looking for the driver of a Ford F150, similar to the one you are looking at. The truck's model year is between 1998 and 2004. They say it was seen near the site where the 27, 000-acre San Diego fire started last Sunday.

The thousands of firefighters are making progress in battling the fires there. But 9 of the 23 blazes are still not contained. Forecasters say wind patterns are pushing more of the smoke inland and of course that could cause respiratory problems for some people. 14 in all have died, seven of those deaths are directly attributed to the flames.

Georgia's Genarlow Wilson is enjoying his first weekend out of prison in more than 2 years. Yesterday Georgia's Supreme Court ruled Wilson's ten-year sentence for teen sex case amounted to cruel and unusual punishment.

US military officials are calling their latest anti-missile test a success. It was conducted last night off the coast of Hawaii. This missile defense system is designed to shoot down short and medium range ballistic missiles.

A man described as a senior militant has been captured in Iraq's Diyala Province. US military officials say the man was involved in weapon smuggling, kidnapping and roadside bombings against US troops, and has ties to an Iranian intelligence cell. They also say the man was the leader of a splinter group who was not honoring Moqtada Al Sadr's pledge to cease attacks. And back in August, Al Sadr ordered a temporary suspension of his militia's activity.

Federal authorities are stepping in to help tackle a water supply dispute in the drought strip in southeast. Yesterday they met privately with the governors of Georgia, Alabama and announced plans to set up a team to help prevent another water emergency. Florida will have its say at a meeting next week. The drought has worsened a long fight between the three states over who gets water from federal reservoirs.

And that's the news this hour. For more on what's happening around the world, tune in to cnn television or log on to cnn. com and don't forget you can also get updates through your wireless phone any time. I'm Asieh Namdar. Thanks for watching
