We begin with word from the National Hurricane Center that tropical storm Noel has formed in the Caribbean Sea. The storm in south of Haiti will top sustain winds near 50 miles per hour. Forecasters say it could bring more than ten inches of rain to Cuba and Jamaica.

Now the North Carolina where authorities are piecing together details of an early morning house fire that may have killed a number of people. Details are still kept sketchy. But from what we know at this point, several college students were staying at the beach house in the community of Ocean Isle Beach. At least six people inside the house were hospitalized. Officials say there were some deaths, but there is no word on exactly how many.

They're cleaning up in some parts of southern California but in other places fires are still burning east of Los Angles, and in isolated canyon areas in Orange County. Most of the fires are either surrounded or contained.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadi Nejad is accusing the US of a double-standard in dealing with terrorism. He says the US is supporting terrorism by not taking action on Kurdish rebels in Iraq who launch attacks against Turkey. He has offered Ankara help in mediating the crisis.

Astronauts have completed a 6.5-hour work project outside the International Space Station. They unhooked a 35,000-pound girder that's been moved to another part of the outpost. The girder will be installed Tuesday during another spacewalk.

And it seems that moviegoers were looking for a few scares on this weekend before Halloween. "Saw IV", the latest installment in the widely successful horror series opened with just over 32 million dollars in ticket sales. But that's a slightly lower opening weekend than its predecessor. Last week's box office champ "30 days of Night" landed in third spot with 6.7 million. Steven Carell fans also turned out in big numbers enough to give his new movie "Dan in Real Life" second place with just over 12 million dollars.
