Hello everyone. I am Catherine Callaway at the cnn Center in Atlanta with a look at what's happening NOW IN THE NEWS for you.

O. J. Simpson back in court in Las Vegas to hear what evidence prosecutors have against him among the charges: armed robbery, kidnapping and assault. Simpson and two co-defendants are accused of robbing two sports memorabilia dealers at gunpoint. Three others have made deals with the prosecution .

And the Senate has handed President Bush's first veto override on a 23-billion-dollar water resources bill. The president vetoed the bill Friday, and the House voted to override it Tuesday. It is the first override of a veto by President Bush. The president says that bill's just too costly and that it would overtax the Army Corps of Engineers.

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf is promising to hold parliamentary elections in mid-February. They were initially set for January but were suspended along with the constitution after Musharraf declared a state of emergency over the weekend. Pakistan's government also started lifting a media blackout that was imposed during the emergency order. President Bush calls the announcement a good first step. Musharraf's critics are accusing him of using martial law to hold on to power.

A horrifying scene in northern Italy today. This is the twisted wreckage of a US Army helicopter. Local officials tell cnn four people were killed; seven were injured when this Blackhawk chopper went down. The craft had taken off from the US base in Aviano with 11 people onboard. The cause of the crash is unknown. The mission of the flight isn't clear.

And there is a new statistic out heading into this Veterans Day that one in four homeless people in the US are military veterans. The Homelessness Research Institute says that veterans make up 11 percent of the adult civilian population but they are 25 percent of the homeless population. Shelter operators say they are even helping relatively new veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan.
