Benazir Bhutto now in her final resting place.Hundreds of thousands came to her ancestral home in southern Pakistan to say their goodbyes.Bhutto was one of the most recognizable faces in the world,the first woman to lead a Muslim nation.Mourners wept, they chanted, beat their heads in grief during the funeral procession.Her casket draped with the green red and black flag of her People’s Party was taken to the family mausoleum.Bhutto was laid to rest next her father.
At least 11 people have been killed in a car bomb in central Baghdad.It exploded in a market in the city's Tayaran Square, which was crowded with people returning home from Friday prayers.Officials say at least 64 people were wounded and that a woman and a child were among those killed.The bombing comes at the end of a relatively quiet holiday period in Iraq’s capital.
The situation remains calm in Kenya despite the high states of a tight national election.Media in Kenya are reporting that early tallies show President Mwai Kibaki trailing his opponent Raila Odinga. Final results are not expected for another 12 hours. Now votes are being counted for the presidency and as well for legislators.
A woman and her boyfriend are expected to face formal charges today in the killings of six of her family members.Now according to court documents the pair confessed to gunning down the woman's parents,her brother,her sister-in-law and their two young children.The suspects Michele Anderson and Joseph McEnroe are being held without bail.Police say they methodically shot her relatives on Christmas Eve.The bodies were found at her parents’ home in Carnation Washington that's near Seattle.
People who bought milk from a central Massachusetts dairy are being warned not to drink it.Two men in their seventies have died from bacteria in the milk products and two other people have become ill in the last six months.The state's Communicable Disease Control Director says DNA fingerprinting showed a common source for those infections.The Whittier Farms' dairy has suspended operations and distribution until the source of that contamination can be found.
