Chinese director John Woo's epic drama "The Crossing" is finally ready for a release date.
中国导演吴宇森执导的史诗影片《太平轮》终于敲定上映日期。

According to Woo himself, the movie is to be released on the 2nd of December, and it's the work he is most satisfied with among all the films he's ever directed.
据导演吴宇森表示，这部电影将于12月2日上映，这是他迄今为止执导过的电影中最满意的作品。

He hopes the film will inspire an emotional reaction in its audience, especially feelings of love and romance.
他希望这部电影能激发观众的情感反应，尤其是爱和浪漫的感受。

The film is based on the sinking of the steamer "Taiping" in 1949.
这部电影根据1949年“太平轮”沉船事故改编而成。

Critics have suggested that "The Crossing" is no more than a Chinese version of the Titanic. But instead of having one leading love story like the Titanic, "The Crossing" presents many different stories on the ship.
批评者认为这部电影不过是中国版的《泰坦尼克号》。但是与《泰坦尼克号》以爱情故事为主线不同，《太平轮》呈现了轮船上发生的多个不同的故事。

Woo has hit back and said that "The Crossing" is a hopeful film. Though the ship sinks, the people who survive are all full of courage, and can inspire the audience with hope.
吴宇森对那些批评者进行了反击，他表示《太平轮》是一部充满希望的电影。虽然轮船沉没，但是生还的人们充满了勇气，这种希望可以鼓舞观众。
