This is News plus Special English.
Duke University has set up a campus in Kun-shan near Shanghai and has opened its doors for enrollment. This is the fourth higher learning joint venture in China.
The Duke Kun-shan University was founded by Duke University in Durham, North Carolina in the U. S. in collaboration with Wuhan University in central China.
The university aims to recruit about 100 master's degree students in the first year. It will be welcoming more students in the future.
Duke Kun-shan University plans to recruit 200 students worldwide for graduate and undergraduate programs this year

China's first joint venture university was set up ten years ago. The other three are Nottingham Ningbo near Shanghai, Xi'an Jiao-tong-Liverpool University in Xi'an, and New York University in Shanghai.
Enrollment at the collaborative universities has increased greatly over the past decade.
Despite the steady rise in enrollment, questions linger over whether employers in China accept joint venture university graduates' credentials.
When a graduate looks for a job, his or her alma mater's reputation has a great impact on the potential employers. These joint venture universities are not as competitive as some of their Chinese counterparts.
