News Plus慢速英语:质检总局要求加强H7N9禽流感疫情防控

China's quality watchdog has urged intensified H7N9 bird flu virus monitoring at the country's customs in a bid to prevent trans-border transmission of the fatal disease.

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine has asked quarantine staff at customs to take temperatures, conduct medical inspections and report health conditions of passengers.
Passengers with abnormal temperatures, cough, or respiratory distress will receive immediate medical examination to confirm whether the symptoms are caused by H7N9 virus.
The administration has also asked local quarantine authorities to coordinate with medical, transportation and other related sectors to make sure emergencies are handled immediately.
China has reported human cases of H7N9 in Shanghai, Beijing, and several other areas since the outbreak of the epidemic in March last year.
Some of the cases have been fatal.
