娱乐英语新闻:Roman Polanski has another sexual abuse victim: Charlotte Lewis

Lewis did not report the incident at the time in 1982, and it's unclear why she chose to hold a press conference now, the Times said.

"I came forward because I heard that Roman Polanski is fighting his return to the United States to face sentencing for his previous crime against a 13-year-old victim and that his legal team is portraying his previous offense against a minor as an isolated instance," she said.

A message left by Xinhua with Roman Polanski's attorney Chad S. Hummel was not immediately returned.

Lewis was ready to testify against Polanski although she was afraid to report her allegations to law enforcement at the time, attorney Allred said.

Allred said she and Lewis met Thursday with a detective from the Los Angeles Police Department and a prosecutor from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, providing details of " what Ms. Lewis suffered as a result of Mr. Polanski's conduct with her."

The Los Angeles district attorney's office confirmed Lewis met with prosecutors on Thursday but declined to comment further, the Times reported.

On April 22, an appellate court panel found that Polanski had " failed to demonstrate" that the judge lacked the discretion to turn down his request. In January, Espinoza denied Polanski's request to be sentenced without returning to the United States.

Polanski pleaded guilty in 1977 to unlawful sexual intercourse with 13-year-old Samantha Geimer. He fled to France in 1978 before he could be sentenced after Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Laurence Rittenband indicated he was going to reject a plea agreement under which the director would have been able to stay out of prison.

He has been kept under house arrest at his ski chalet in the Swiss resort of Gstaad since being released from custody Dec. 4. He is fighting efforts to be brought to Los Angeles to face sentencing for having unlawful sex with the teenager girl.
