国内英语新闻:China advises Palestine, Israel against escalating tensions
BEIJING, July 11 (Xinhua) -- China on Friday urged Palestine and Israel to avoid any action that may escalate tensions.
"The current Palestine-Israel conflict shows military forces don't work but wreak more havoc on people," spokesman Qin Gang said at a daily press briefing on Friday.
Qin's comments came after the Israeli offensive "Operation Protective Edge", which started on Tuesday, killed 98 Palestinians and injured more than 600 people, according to Palestinians medical officials on Friday.
China condemns any attacks targeting civilians, Qin said.
Qin reviewed Chinese diplomats' recent meeting with Palestinian ambassador in Beijing and Israeli ambassador in Beijing, calling for both sides to avoid any action that may escalate tensions.
