体坛英语新闻:Hoffenheim upset Hannover at German Bundesliga

BERLIN, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Hoffenheim sealed the first win of the season following a 3-1 victory over Hannover while Stuttgart came from behind to draw 2-2 with Bremen and Leverkusen tied 1-1 with Monchengladbach to close the fourth round of German Bundesliga on Sunday.

Struggling Hoffenheim wrapped the first points of the season due to a 3-1 win over Hannover.

It was a nightmare start for Hoffenheim as Matthieu Delpierre opened the scoring for Hannover with an own goal, 26 minutes into the match.

Seventy seconds later Hoffenheim's Fabian Johnson smoothed the own goal out, when he equalized the scoring with a well placed curl shot into the far post corner.

Finally, Sejad Salihovic and Daniel Williams donated one goal each to reward their side with the first win of the campaign.

Leverkusen staged an offensive performance but failed to convert golden scoring opportunities against Monchengladbach.

Monchengladbach shocked Leverkusen with only three minutes into the match as Patrick Herrmann utilized a deep cross-field pass by Juan Arango to slot home from penalty area for the opener.

The Werkself needed nine minutes to recover from the deficit as Michal Kadlec hammered home from 14 meters into top far corner at the 12th minute to level the score.

Leverkusen kept attacking meanwhile Monchengladbach staged a passive performance. Leverkusen's Andre Schuerrle had the victory on his foot, after an awarded handball penalty, but his shot rattled only the left post.

Werder Bremen failed to protect a 2-0 lead as Stuttgart came from behind to make it two all draw.

Bremen staged a powerful first half owing to goals by Kevin de Bruyne and Zlatko Junuzovic to take a deserved 2-0 lead into the break.

With beginning of the second half Stuttgart gained a foothold into the match to stun the hosts with a header by Martin Harnik who reduced the lead to 2-1 at the 50th minute.

The visitors were not done with the scoring as Cacau netted Georg Niedermeiers assist from goal area to make it 2-2 on the scoreboards. At the closing stages both sides had to swallow a dismissal, Stuttgart's Martin Harnik booked his second yellow card and Bremen's Assani Lukimya booked a straight red card following a rude foul.
