体坛英语新闻:Panama's boxer champion renounces WBA throne
PANAMA CITY, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Panama's boxer Celestino "Pelenchin" Caballero renounced the World Boxing Association (WBA) featherweight champion throne, arguing the lack of support of this organization before his next fight to defend the throne, local media said Monday.
The local dailies "La Prensa" and "Panama America" said Caballero's decision was spread Sunday night through a letter addressed to the WBA, where he said he had devoted almost all his career to this organization and that he expected a fair support from it.
"Pelenchin" said he expected to be respected as a boxer with a career devoted to achieve his dreams.
The Panamanian boxer complained about the cancellation of the fight with Mickey Garcia, after some versions said it was because the non-fulfillment of the company in charge of promoting the fight.
"Pelenchin" said the cancellation damaged his career and said WBA was supposed to support him, adding that the organization as well hasn't supported him to concrete other fights between him and Chris John, featherweight superchampion.
"Pelenchin" also complained of the lack of support of the Panama City and of Colon province local boxing commissions.
