体坛英语新闻:San Martin de San Juan drops to Argentina' s second division
BUENOS AIRES, June 23 (Xinhua) -- San Martin de San Juan Sunday lost 1-3 against River Plate and fell to Argentina' s soccer' s second division in the 19th matchday from the first division' s Final Tournament.
In the game played at "Monumental" stadium in Buenos Aires, River Plate' s Leonel Vangioni scored at minute 12, as well as Carlos Sanchez (minute 23) and Juan Manuel Iturbe (minute 87).
After scoring the goal, Iturbe mocked the rivals, who tried to attack him, so referee German Delfino ended the game.
Eduardo Ledesma, from San Martin de San Juan, was expelled after a head butt against an assistant referee, while Gaston Capriari scored the team' s only goal at minute 68.
San Martin de San Juan, a team from Cuyo region in central west Argentina, will return to Primera B Nacional (second division) after two years in the maximum league.
With this result, River Plate ended the Final Tournament with 35 points, and so far in the second position, three points behind champion Newell' s, who lost 0-1 against Argentinos (18 points) on Sunday afternoon.
Argentinos avoided the descent to second division, with a goal scored by Pablo Hernandez at minute 86.
Also, Atletico Rafaela (23 points) remained in first division, despite being defeated 1-2 by Velez Sarsfield (20 points) in Buenos Aires, with both goals scored by Ezequiel Rescaldani (at minute 15 and 54).
Eduardo Dominguez, from Atletico Rafaela, scored the goal at minute 63.
With these results, the three teams' fall to second division were defined. The descending teams are Union de Santa Fe, Independiente (for the first time in its history) and San Martin de San Juan.
