体坛英语新闻：FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships open in Bulgaria

SOFIA, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- The opening ceremony of the 29th FIG Trampoline Gymnastics and Tumbling World Championships was held here on Wednesday evening.

A Parade of the flags of the 39 participating nations and performance of Neshka Robeva's dance group were a part of the ceremony held in Arena Armeec Hall.

Nearly 300 gymnasts will compete in the championships with the qualifications starting on Thursday, and finals to be held from Friday to Sunday.

The men's trampoline team competition is likely to be a duel involving China, Russia and Japan, while Britain, Canada, Russia and Ukraine are strong contenders for the women's podium, the International Gymnastics Federation said in a press release on the eve of the event.
