体坛英语新闻：Stuttgart, Mainz victorious in German Bundesliga

BERLIN, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Stuttgart broke their negative spell with a 3-1 win over Freiburg whereas Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting secured Mainz a last minute 1-0 victory over Frankfurt on Sunday.

Stuttgart had to make amendments to their last week's humiliating 6-1 loss to Dortmund. The Swabians recovered from four-game winless streak to grab three points on road thanks to the brace by youngster Timo Werner.

Stuttgart caught a bright start as Vedad Ibisevic broke the deadlock with only nine minutes into the match. Moments later Werner danced through hapless Freiburg's defense to beat goalkeeper Oliver Baumann from the box.

Freiburg's substitute Mike Hanke pulled one goal back for home team, one minute after his fielding and with his first touch of the ball, at the 78th minute. It's Werner again that destroyed all hopes of a home comeback when he restored the lead to two goals four minutes later to make the game safe.

"I m content with the performance of my team. Particularly the first half was good. During the second half we allowed Freiburg to get back into the game," Stuttgart coach Thorsten Schneider said.

Frankfurt extended their winless run to seven matches as Mainz grabbed their fifth win after 12 rounds.

Both sides staged a fast paced and entertaining Rhein-Main Derby.

The visitors from Frankfurt dominated the first half but, the "Eagles" failed to squeeze profit from their better ball possession and chances. Meanwhile the hosts piled on the pressure at the second half to wrap up a last grasp win thanks to the decider by substitute Choupo Moting, whose header at the back post found the net at the 88th minute.

"Frankfurt showed their class but with the beginning of the second half we gradually improved our performance. This was a sweet win," Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel said.
