体坛英语新闻:Ancelotti: winning Balon D'Or is extra motivation and responsibility for Ronaldo

MADRID, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo may have been named as the winner of the FIFA Balon D'Or award on Monday, but there is not chance that he is going to rest on his laurels.

Real Madrid are in Copa del Rey action on Wednesday night when they defend a 2-0 first leg lead away to Osasuna in the always- hostile El Sadar Stadium and speaking to the press ahead of the game, coach Carlo Ancelotti will almost certainly include him in his side.

Ronaldo has been all over the pro-Real Madrid papers, who carried out a strong campaign in his support, on Tuesday and while the striker's joy at winning the award was apparent for all to see, Ancelotti will be expecting nothing less than his best in El Sadar.

"We all congratulated Cristiano for his award, he deserved it. He is very happy as he worked hard to win and everything has worked out well," said Ancelotti, who highlighted both Ronaldo's talent and his capacity to work.

"If you don't work, you can't show your talent. It is important to have talent, but you need to work to show that on the pitch and he is a great worker," he commented, adding that now Ronaldo had to carry his good work into the New Year.

"He has managed his time well. Winning the Balon D'Or was a great motivation and it will be one for 2014. Now he has more responsibility because he is playing with that award, although it will be tough to ask him to score more than the 69 goals he netted last year," said the coach, who looked ahead to Wednesday's match.

"We are focused and motivated, everyone knows how tough it is to play in Pamplona against Osasuna and we already had problems there this season (they drew 2-2 in the league). We are going to play an intense game and our rivals will do all they can to win the tie. We have to think we have no lead and try and score as soon as possible."

Ancelotti was also asked about the day's news that Clarence Seedorf has been named as coach of AC Milan, one of his former clubs.

"He played under me and had a great personality and capacity to know everything in the world of football. He knows Milan well and in the past the club has employed people without much experience, who have done well. I wish him all the best," concluded Ancelotti.
