体坛英语新闻:FIFA to release last-minute World Cup tickets
RIO DE JANEIRO, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Football's governing body FIFA will offer fans their last chance to attend the World Cup by releasing a final batch of tickets on June 1.
In a briefing with Brazilian media on Friday, FIFA's marketing director Thierry Weil said an undetermined number of seats would go on sale at venue ticketing centers.
"We had to hold on to 7% of seats that were installed after (the last sales phase)," Weil was quoted saying by O Globo. "We are currently looking to see how many tickets we can sell."
Weil reiterated FIFA's warning to fans about scalpers.
The body earlier said those who purchased tickets from unauthorized sellers would be denied entry.
"Are we going to stop all the ticket touts?" Weil said in comments published on FIFA's official website. "Probably not. But we've been very successful in terms of selling World Cup tickets on the internet.
"My advice is not to take risks. Don't buy tickets on the black market. If we find out, you'll be stopped and will be prevented from entering the stadium."
