体坛英语新闻:Dortmund, Bayern victorious in German Bundesliga
BERLIN, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Dortmund edge off Freiburg 3-1 while Bayern Munich beat Stuttgart 2-0 at the Southern derby in the third round of the German Bundesliga on Saturday.
German giants Bayern Munich earned a hard earned 2-0 victory over winless Stuttgart to reap the second win of the season, and the 12th straight win against the "Swabians".
Stuttgart defended deep from the kick off to give Bayern a hard fight. However, the Bavarians needed 27 minutes to break the deadlock as Mario Goetze utilized a rebound following a free kick to slot home into the far post corner from sharp angle.
Stuttgart's offense showed no sign while Bayern pressed for their second goal of the day as Xabi Alonso rattled the left post before Robert Lewandowski made use of the rebound to hit the right post.
Bayern were rewarded for their efforts five minutes before the final whistle when Franck Ribery doubled the lead at his injury comeback, nutmegging Sven Ulreich from seven meters following a through ball by Lewandowski. Thus, Stuttgart wait for their first win of the season whereas Bayern climb on second position.
Clinical Dortmund cruised to a 3-1 win over Freiburg to earn their second win at the third game of the season. Freiburg staged a courageous performance, as Dortmund needed a half hour to gain a foothold into the game.
As soon as Dortmund earned momentum, they scored the opener through new arrival Adrian Ramos, who scored his second goal of the season following a square pass by Kevin Grosskreutz at the 34th minute.
Only seven minutes later Shinji Kagawa doubled the lead to score his first goal for Dortmund since his return from Manchester United last week. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made it 3-0 on the scoreboards at the 75th minute, just three minutes after his fielding.
Freiburg's efforts were rewarded as they scored their consolation through Oliver Sorg at the 90th minute.
Schalke wait for their first win as they suffered their second defeat against Monchengladbach. The "Foals" staged a powerful performance and cruised to a 4-1 victory over hapless "Royal Blues".
Elsewhere, Mainz ensured Berlin's worst start into the season after 24 years. The "Old Lady" wait for their first win but suffered their second loss of the season as Shinji Okazaki's brace was enough to wrap a 3-1 win for Mainz on the road.
Hoffenheim and Wolfsburg share the spoils as the "Wolves" veteran striker Ivica Olic cancelled out Anthony Modeste's opener. Also Paderborn and Cologne share their points following a goalless draw at the newly promoted encounter.
The following games are scheduled for Sunday: Frankfurt see Augsburg and Hannover host Hamburg.
