体坛英语新闻:Danish Football Union supports UEFA boycott against countries banning women from entering st
COPENHAGEN, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Danish Football Union (DBU) chairman Jesper Moller on Tuesday came out strongly in support of a request for European national and club teams to refuse to play matches in countries where women are barred from entering the stadium.
"We cannot or will not accept that football is not for everyone," said Jesper Moller on the DBU website.
The Danes were responding to an open letter by European Football Association (UEFA) president Aleksander Ceferin, who made a request to European Football to refuse to play matches in countries where women are banned from entering stadiums.
"Our advice to 55 associations and all the clubs will be not to play there or with the teams from these countries where the basic rights of women are not respected," said Ceferin in his call to action.
The DBU now joins the European Club Association who has also publically come out in agreement with the UEFA president's call.
