体坛英语新闻:Lewandowski delighted with Bayern massive win in Champions League
WARSAW, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski hailed the team after Niko Kovac's side trashed Tottenham Hotspur 7-2 in the Champions League match in London on Tuesday.
"Our second goal was crucial," said the Pole in the interview for Polsat Sport TV.
In the early stage Son Heung-min put the hosts in front, but then Bayern showed the superiority. The man of the match was Serge Gnabry with his four goals after the restart. Robert Lewandowski also noted an outstanding display, scoring twice.
"We played a really good match. Few days ago we had some problems to beat Paderborn, we couldn't turn the pace due to the high grass. In London the intensity of the game was on much higher level. For us it was an easy and pleasant victory," admitted Lewandowski.
In the closing stage of the first half the frontman put the visitors ahead, arrowing the ball into the bottom corner. Then he marked the final score with the technical finish after a stunning pass by Coutinho.
"Our second goal seemed to be crucial, as Tottenham played worse after the break. When it's rainy, it's really hard for goalkeeper to save a precise shoot," said "Lewy".
Lewandowski is the fifth all-time goal scorer in the Champions League with 56 goals. On Tuesday, the Pole leveled the record of Ruud van Nistelrooy.
"To be honest, I don't count my goals. I'm happy every time I find the net. I just want to help my team and If I score a lot, it's easier for us to achieve our goals. It's important we play in offensive style and create a lot of chances," added the attacker.
