国际英语新闻:Sudan, Egypt agree on coordination over regional, int'l issues
KHARTOUM, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Sudan and Egypt on Wednesday agreed to coordinate with each other on regional and international issues.
Meetings of the Joint Sudanese-Egyptian Ministerial Committee concluded in the Sudanese capital Khartoum, chaired by Sudan's Foreign Minister Al-Dirdiri Mohamed Ahmed and his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry.
According to a joint communique issued after the meetings, the two sides agreed to enhance coordination on situations in South Sudan, Libya, Syria, the Middle East and the Horn of Africa Region, and to promote regional and international peace and stability.
The two countries agreed to sign 12 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and a program of diplomatic cooperation between the Sudanese foreign ministry and the Egyptian ministry of international cooperation and investment.
The program also included cooperation in foreign trade, establishment of a model farm for horticultural crops, youths and sports, TV and radio, higher education, health, immigration, administrative reform, development of Sudanese human resources and a media code of honor between the two countries, according to the communique.
They agreed on the importance of regular meetings of the joint committees and mechanisms, stressing the importance of continued coordination between the two countries regarding regional and international issues.
The MoUs are expected to be officially signed on Thursday in presence of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who is expected to arrive in Khartoum on Thursday.
