国际英语新闻:France reiterates support for Sudan's transitional period
KHARTOUM, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian on Monday voiced his country's support for the current transitional period in Sudan to achieve peace and justice.
Le Drian made the remarks during a joint press conference with Sudan's Foreign Minister Asma Mohamed Abdullah in Khartoum on Monday.
He said Paris is ready to provide the necessary support to Sudan to rebuild the deteriorating economy and reach peace agreements with armed groups at conflict zones.
"We are working with our European partners to ensure the removal of Sudan from the terror list," he added.
He stated that France would provide 60 million euros (66 million U.S. dollars) in aid to Sudan.
For her part, Sudan's Foreign Minister Abdullah underscored the international community's support for the peace efforts in Sudan.
"Peace in Sudan will positively reflect on peace in the entire region," she noted.
Le Drian, who arrived in Khartoum earlier on Monday in the first visit ever by a French foreign minister to Sudan in 10 years, met with Sudan's Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok and Chairman of the Sovereignty Council Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan.
