The shot clock in basketball kind of speeds up the game, which is fantastic. You want a nice flow to a basketball game. In the NBA it's a 24 second clock, in high school and college it is 35 seconds. And that's a little bit longer and a little bit slower flow to the game, but the NBA is a faster pace with the 24 second clock. You have to run your plays, get into things and get a shot off before the shot clock expires. And once the ball hits the rim then the shot clock starts all over again.
