安理会通过决议对伊朗发起新制裁

The United Nations Security Council voted in favour of new sanctions against Iran over its nuclear programme, which Western powers suspect is aimed at developing atomic weapons.

联合国安理会就伊朗核问题（西方国家怀疑伊朗的核计划的目的是开发核武器）投票并通过决议，决定对伊朗实施新的制裁方案。

The Security Council resolution calls for measures against new Iranian banks abroad if a connection to the nuclear programme is suspected.

安理会在决议中呼吁，应采取措施，禁止伊朗在国外新开设与其核计划有关联之嫌的银行。

It also expands a UN arms embargo against Tehran and blacklists firms that are aiding the nuclear enrichment.

The 15-nation council met to vote on a draft resolution that is the product of five months of talks between the US, Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia.

European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said she was ready to meet Iran's nuclear negotiator to discuss its enrichment programme.
