蔬菜价格低下影响农民

Recently, the price of many vegetables has been going down substantially. That may be good news for consumers, but it's quite the opposite for farmers. CCTV reporter Wang Tao finds out why the costs have been dropping.
最近，许多蔬菜的价格持续走低。那对消费者来说可能是好消息，但是对于农民来说就相反了。CCTV记者Wang Tao找出价格下降的原因。

What lies ahead for the cabbage is not harvest, but destruction.
对于卷心菜，引起价格下降的原因不是丰收，而是破坏。

Farmer Wu Xiaolin said, "It is a great pity. It hurts us deeply to see them destroyed."
农民Wu Xiaolin说：“非常遗憾。看到它们被毁坏我们深深地受到伤害。”

The surplus of cabbages has driven prices down, so farmers have to get rid of them in preparation for the coming planting season.
多余的卷心菜导致价格下降，所以农民不得不清除这些卷心菜为即将来临的种植季节做准备。

And its not just cabbages. Vegetable prices are going down across the board.
而且不止卷心菜这样。蔬菜价格也全面下降。

Fu Yu, Wumart, said, "The price for vegetables has been reduced by 20 percent on average. For instance, cucumber, it is now 3.56 yuan per kilo, and it was 5.36 yuan per kilo the same time last month.That is a decline of 1.8 yuan."
物美公司Fu Yu说：“蔬菜价格平均下降了20%。例如，现在黄瓜每公斤3.56元，而上个月这个时候每公斤5.36元。下降了1.8元。”

The price dive is due to oversupply - the result of two main factors.
价格下降是由于供大于求——两个主要因素的结果。

For one, this year's unusual climate has led to vegetables ripening at the same time in northern and southern China. And secondly, farmers chose to grow more produce due to the price hikes seen in the second half of last year.
一个是，今年气候的不寻常导致中国北方和南方蔬菜同时成熟。第二是，由于去年下半年物价上涨，农民选择种植更多农产品。

Wan Fuxiang, Hubei Provincial Agricultural Dept., said, "After this spring festival, the temperature was lower than previously. It took 15 days more for vegetables to grow. And the prices for broccoli and cabbage last year encouraged farmers to grow more. All this caused the current excess."
湖北省农业部门Wan Fuxiang说：“春节过后，气温比之前低。蔬菜需要超过15天才能成长。去年西兰花和卷心菜的价格鼓励农民种植更多。所有这些导致如今的过剩。”

Experts are calling for more agricultural information to be delivered to farmers. They also see a need for unified growth plans to be carried out to prevent a similar surplus problem.
专家呼吁传递给农民更多的农业信息。他们也认为需要实行统一的种植计划预防类似的过剩问题。
