帮助农民走出困境的措施

Many vegetable growers in China have been affected by fluctuating prices recently. The matter has caught the governments' attention and measures are being introduced to assist the farmers.

Li Zhengjie, Supermarket Employee, said, "The selling price is the same as the price we purchased them from the vegetable farmers. It's our way to help them."

The move is one of the local government's initiatives to help farmers get through the recent price dive.

Several supermarkets and wholesale markets have been circled out to purchase vegetables directly from farmers to reduce the cost.

Zhang Xin, Deputy Director of Bureau of Commerce, Jinan City, said, "The price supermarkets offer should cover the costs of the farmers. The current sales mechanism should prove to be a helpful method."

But finding long-term solutions is what authorities should work on the most.

Poor sales, as well as the price dip have once again brought up the issues of the lack of market information and supervision.

"We will build a database to monitor major vegetable wholesale markets in the city and to collect information which will be shared by farmers. Logistics is another area to focus on. The government will make arrangements to assure a stable supply." Said Zhang Xin.
