巴西啤酒博览会在圣保罗开幕

Brazil's largest beer fair kicked off in Sao Paulo on Tuesday. Hundreds of beer lovers are tasting specially crafted beers made of native Amazon fruits and nuts when they're visiting the 11th International Exhibition of Beer Technology.
巴西最大的啤酒展周二在圣保罗开展。在参观第11届国际啤酒技术展时，数以百计的啤酒爱好者正在品尝用亚马逊土产水果和坚果特制的啤酒。

Visitors were able to take a close look at modern equipment and technologies of the beer industry and also sip unique beverages made of typical Brazilian products.

The country's microbreweries, which have been grabbing an increasingly larger market share in recent years, carried out tasting sessions throughout the afternoon. These selections showcase tropical flavors from the Amazon rainforest and the Atlantic coastal forest.

Fair organizer Fabiana Sardinha said smaller brewers were given a large space in the event due to their growing role in the national market.

Fabiana Sardinha said, "Their impact on the industry is very big; the sector of microbreweries has been growing a lot in Brazil. Whereas brewers have been growing around 5, 6, or 7 percent per year, the microbreweries have been growing by up to 15 percent."

Hoping to stand out in a crowded market, microbreweries decide to explore unusual products like the bacuri fruit from the Amazon and the jabuticaba, a type of Brazilian grape.

Marco Falcone is Head of the microbrewery Falke Bier. He says the beverage made of jabuticaba has a unique taste.

Marco Falcone said, "We have reached a fantastic result using a fruit that is native to Brazil, a totally Brazilian fruit -- the jabuticaba."

The International Exhibition of Beer Technology ended on Thursday.
