Thai Prime Minister-elect Yingluck Shinawatra says the Thai baht should float freely and be left to market forces.

Yingluck says she wants to fulfill all her campaign promises but won't stubbornly pursue those that do not work.

The baht currently floats freely, with the central bank intervening to avoid excessive volatility. Yingluck was asked about the inflationary impact of her campaign promises, including an average 40 percent increase in the minimum wage from January.

She says she would like to see consumption increase and GDP growth. She says inflation may increase a bit in the future.
