During major sporting events, volunteers play a huge role. This year's Shenzhen Universiade is no exception. More than 25 thousand young men and women are serving as volunteers in and around venues of the Games.

But despite such a large number, there are still more who weren't selected. Our reporter Wang Guan met a group of kids who might be too young to be a volunteer at the Games but are contributing to the event in their own way.

People call them "Super volunteers". Aged between 6 and 12, they may not be old enough to serve as credited volunteers inside the venues yet. But as residents of Shenzhen, they want to say to everybody they are proud to have the Universiade held on their home turf.

Benefiting from a partner program between their primary schools and the volunteer department of the Universidad organizers, these young kids are still getting a taste of what it's like to volunteer.

It's 35 degrees Celsius. It's scorchingly hot. And they are doing this for nothing. But many children believe it's an important job and everybody should take note of the message they are sending.

While some are having fun doing this, others are a little bit bored after standing in the sun for half an hour. Many parents insist no matter how physically challenging it is, it's important for their children to get involved in community service, to learn things they can't get from textbooks.

So far, 400 primary schools have sent their students to work with volunteer stations of the Universiade. In the next two weeks, these super volunteers will be seen all over the city, regulating traffic and reminding the residents of the city to behave in a polite and civilized manner.
