香港旺角重大火灾 致9人死亡
The death toll from a fire that swept through a market in Hong Kong has risen to nine. According to the local authorities, a hotline has been set up to help those concerned about the whereabouts of their loved ones.

Earlier in the morning, the fire broke out at a street hawker’s booth. It then quickly spread through the residential building.

For several hours, fire crews battled the blaze, with up to 30 fire trucks on the scene at one point.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire and say arson has not been ruled out.

A local resident says the building where many of the victims lived had been subdivided into small living spaces known as cubicles or cage homes. A fire at a subdivided apartment building in the city’s Kowloon district killed four people earlier this year, prompting calls from some lawmakers for a ban on these cubicle flats.
