朱光亚：核先驱与民族英雄

Among the people CCTV has chosen to receive our "Hidden Heroes" award, there is a pioneering nuclear physicist named as Zhu Guangya. Zhu Guangya made important contributions to breakthroughs in nuclear energy research and helped the country develop its nuclear arsenal.
在被央视评选为“感动中国”奖的人物中，有一位叫朱光亚的原子核物理先驱。朱光亚为原子核能源探索的突破做出了重大贡献，帮助我国发展了核武器。

China exploded its first atom bomb in 1964, with a hydrogen bomb following shortly in 1967 - setting a record for such a rapid advance. The event shocked the world, but also touched the heart of Zhu Guangya, who returning to China after completing his PHD in nuclear physics from the University of Michigan, devoted himself to researching nuclear energy.
中国1964年爆炸了第一颗原子弹，不久之后的1967年爆炸了一颗氢弹——因为如此快速的发展而创作了一项纪录。这件事不仅震惊了世界，而且触动了在美国密歇根大学完成原子核物理学博士学位后回国并致力于原子核能研究的朱光亚的心。

Zhu Mingyuan, Zhu Guangya’s son, said, "I wrote in my diary that we should pay tribute to scientists. My father didn’t agree. He said workers, technicians and members of People’s Liberation Army are all contributors."
朱光亚的儿子Zhu Mingyuan称：“我在我的日记中写道，我们应该向科学家致敬。我爸爸不同意。他说工人、技术人员和人民解放军都是做出贡献。”

In 1999, he was awarded a prestigious medal in recognition of his contribution to China’s "Two Bombs, One Satellite" project which refers to the atomic bombs and a man-made satellite.
1999年，他被授予荣誉奖章，为的是表彰他对中国“两弹一星”工程的贡献，“两弹一星”指的是原子弹和人造卫星。

As the first president of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhu also served on numerous civil technology commissions. He also helped organize the Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant’s research on the applications and development of radioactive isotopes.
在担任中国工程院的第一位院长的同时，朱光亚还服务于许多民用技术委员会。他还帮忙组织了秦山核电站关于放射性同位素的应用与发展的研究。

Despite his accomplishments, Zhu Guangya has kept a low profile. Gu Xiaoying, Zhu Guangya’s daughter-in-law, said, "Every time he’s spoken of China’s proud achievements in nuclear science, he always spoke highly of others’ contributions. He never talked about his own efforts. "
尽管取得这些成就，朱光亚一直保持低调。朱光亚的儿媳妇Gu Xiaoying表示：“每次他提到中国在原子核科学上的骄人成就时，他总是称赞其他人的贡献。他从没有提及他自己的努力。”

Because of Zhu’s prominent contributions, an asteroid discovered by a Chinese observatory was named in his honor in December 2004. Zhu passed away in 2011, but his spirit and selfless dedication to country will never fade.
由于朱的突出贡献，2004年12月，中国天文台发现的一颗小行星以他的名字命名。虽然朱光亚2011年逝世了，但是他的精神和对国家的无私贡献永不消逝。
