费德勒胜德约科维奇挺进温网决赛
World number one Novak Djokovic faced third seeded Roger Federer in the semi-finals of Wimbledon overnight. Djokovic has had the best of Federer in their most recent encounters but Federer had more at stake than the defending champion - looking for a record eighth Wimbledon finals berth and with a win, a return to the world's number one slot.
From the start Federer looked to have the edge - powerful forehands and magical backhands. The 16-time Grand Slam champion made the only break of the first set to win it 6-3 and he looked to be building.
It was Serbia's world number one who lifted in the second set, matching Federer across the court with both speed of return and pin point precision. Djokovic claimed the second set 6-3 to put the match back on level terms.
The third set was the clincher. Federer was gifted a pair of break points, while Djokovic was serving to stay in contention. The six time Wimbledon champion blasting an overhead smash to close out the third set 6-4 and send an ominous warning to the current Wimbledon champ. Leading two sets to one Federer appeared to have won hand already gripping a final's berth.
Federer wasted no time taking the fourth set 6-3. The world number is now on track for a double - his 7th Wimbledon crown and Djokovic's world number one ranking...
Wimbledon Finalist said, "Obviously I'd love to win the title. I have one more match to go. I'm aware of that. Still it's always nice beating someone like Novak, who has done so well here last year, the last couple years. We've never played on grass. It was obviously a big occasion. These matches only help my confidence. I hope I can use it then for the finals. "
Current World No.1 Novak Djokovic said, "I lost to a great champion, somebody that is has the most Grand Slams in the history of the sport. I do regret that I didn't play as well as I thought I would and as well as I played maybe last couple matches. You know, life goes on. This is sport. I have to move on."
