“世界和平论坛”在北京开幕
With recent disputes over the South China Sea, the World Peace Forum is yet another opportunity for China to hold peaceful talks with its neighbours.
Former political leaders from around the world are attending this two-day discussion to share their experience and vision towards building lasting peace among countries.
Hatoyama Kunio, Former Japanese Prime Minister, said, This forum is especially important for east Asian countries, with an increasing number of disputes bringing tense relations among some ASEAN members. One of the major topics at this forum is to seek a peaceful solution to these disputes.
Abdullah Badawi, Former Malaysian Prime Minister, said, At the press conference, Badawi reiterated that ASEAN can play a more active role in resolving disputes by strengthening communication and cooperation.
The main theme of this forum is cooperation, and only through cooperation can trust be built, otherwise the promise of peace is simply empty talk.
