北京增加水储备
So we heard there about plans to boost Beijing’s water collection and storage facilities to actually USE all this rain to add to the capital’s water supply during dry spells.
As of now, Beijing has around 5-hundred urban water collection facilities, and a thousand in suburban areas. Total water storage capacity stands at 5-million cubic meters per year - providing a big boost to Beijing’s water supply, during long periods without rain.
37 more water storage projects are under construction right now, at a cost of more than 14-billion yuan. They include harnessing medium and small rivers, and improving the city’s drainage systems. And in the next three years, the government will spend nearly 9 billion yuan on 14 new flood protection projects.
