2012北京国际铁人三项赛开赛
Some of the fittest athletes on the planet will converge on the Chinese capital this weekend. The city will host the first-ever Beijing International Triathlon today. The course will consist of 1.5-km swim, a 40-km bike race and a final 10-km run.
A host of top international triathletes, including two-time Olympic medalist Bevan Docherty of New Zealand, seen waving to the camera, will compete for the 100-thousand dollars in prize money. Germany’s former World Cup winner Ricarda Lisk, as well as China’s best triathletes Bai Faquan and Zhang Yi will also take part. The Beijing race is the first qualifying event in Asia for the Escape to Alcatraz Triathlon Series.
Two-Time Olympic Medallist Bevan Docherty said, " It was amazing to see how the Chinese could creative such an amazing course over the years - from an average race in the start to a world class course. Ever since then I have been impressed with how they are able to create these top quality events and that was what I have seen just today going over the course. It is an amazing course and I am very excited to race in the weekend."
